Privacy policy
Last updated July 17, 2026
HotWaterAtlas is a static informational website. There are no user accounts, no comment system, and no forms — we have no way to identify you and collect as little as the site's operation allows.
What we collect
- Analytics. If analytics are enabled, we use PostHog (EU cloud) to count page views and see which pages are useful. It runs without cookies: a randomly generated anonymous identifier is kept in your browser's local storage, we do not build user profiles, and there is no session recording or cross-site tracking. See PostHog's privacy policy.
- Server logs. Like virtually all websites, our hosting provider records standard access logs (IP address, user agent, requested URL) for security and operations. These are kept only as long as the provider's default retention.
Advertising and consent
If advertising (Google AdSense) is enabled, ad scripts load only after you accept
the consent banner. Your choice is stored in your browser's local storage under the key
ad-consent and never leaves your device; declining keeps the site fully
functional with no ad scripts loaded. If you accept, Google may use cookies to personalize
ads — see
how Google uses data from partner sites. You can change your mind by clearing the site's local storage in your browser.
Affiliate links
Some outbound links are affiliate links (see the affiliate disclosure). Clicking one takes you to the merchant's site, where the merchant's own privacy policy applies; the link may include a tag identifying HotWaterAtlas as the referrer, but it carries no information about you.
Third-party sites
We link to external resources such as EPA data records and manufacturer documentation. Their privacy practices are their own.
Your rights
Because we hold no personal data about visitors, there is normally nothing for us to access, correct, or delete. If you believe we do hold something about you, or have any privacy question, contact us and we will help.
Changes
If our practices change — for example, if analytics or advertising are switched on — this page will be updated and the date above bumped before the change takes effect.
